This report for the High Commission for Occupied Germany (HICOG) was compiled by behavioral economist George Katona following two months of travel and research in Germany. After briefly recounting the details of his trip, he presents his study of public opinion research in post-war West Germany and makes suggestions for future cooperative studies between German and American social scientists. Though now an American citizen, the Hungarian-born Katona lived in Germany in the 1920s and early 30s before immigrating to the U.S. In this report, he credits his transnational background for the ease with which he was able to gain the confidence of Germans of all walks of life.
